A fantastic opportunity to work across the 6 large independent racecourses (Newbury, Ascot, York, Ayr, Chester and Goodwood) over a two-year period, learning every aspect of the role of the Clerk of the Course. You will spend 4-6 months working at each racecourse following the major festivals and work across all areas of the track and grounds. Candidates will have to relocate with each role and therefore must be flexible, confident and self-sufficient.
In return candidates will have the chance to be a part of some of the World’s Biggest Sporting Events such as Royal Ascot, the Yorkshire Ebor Festival, Glorious Goodwood and British Champions Day.
Candidates will become immersed in the world of Horse Racing and therefore a passion for the sport is essential. Potentially working over 24 weekends a year, in the highest calibre of racing, requires both motivation and dedication.
This is a chance to learn the workings of a racecourse from the track side, gaining valuable experience and qualifications and there should be an opportunity for a permanent Clerk of the Course position at the end of the trainee period.
The candidate will receive a competitive salary, support, accommodation will be provided, reasonable expenses, and usual holiday.
We are looking for someone with:
· A firm desire to have a career as a Clerk of the Course
· Turf knowledge (helpful but not essential as training can be given)
· Racing knowledge
· Open minded
· Adaptable team player
This position is likely to start in October. Apply via the Careers in Racing job board with your CV and covering letter.
