The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is looking for a BHA Raceday Official in the Berkshire/Wiltshire area.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a self-managed, motivated individual with relevant horseracing and equine handling experience who is capable of multi-tasking. You will work closely with the EWIO and Starters’ Team Leaders in delivering operational strategy in relation to integrity and starting procedures on racecourses.

You will be required uphold security of Racecourse Stable Yards, safeguarding raceday integrity and racehorse welfare. In addition, ensure that racehorse identification checks are completed, sample horses at the racecourse and CRS, actively encourage and promote the flow of intelligence to support and strengthen the BHA’s regulatory and integrity focuses. You will also be required to control all horses, riders and racecourse personnel at the start and ensure that a fair start, in accordance with BHA Rules of Racing and the Standard Operating Procedures, is operated for each race at assigned race meetings.

The successful applicant will have:

• Relevant Horseracing experience and competent in thoroughbred horse handling skills.
• Understanding of British Horseracing: structures and participants.
• Experience of working with sensitive and highly confidential information.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage their own time, multi-tasking, prioritising and delivering to tight deadlines.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain strong and effective working relationships.
• Awareness and understanding of the need for confidentiality and integrity in all they do.
• Ability to remain calm and take control in a crisis.
• Demonstrate an efficient and collaborative approach.
• Good standard of computer literacy, including email, intranet, internet and data inputting.
• Team player, recognising the importance of a cohesive and responsive team.
• Thorough and methodical, with the ability to strictly adhere to working procedures and SOPs.
