Are you interested in becoming The Secretary at a successful Horse racing yard? [ 20 Hours /week (Monday – Friday)]
£22-30k (pro rata)

The Newland Racing yard is expanding and moving to new stables near Droitwich.
With 40 National Hunt race horses and a team of 10 staff we need a dedicated Racing secretary to manage all the administration of the business.
Working from an office at the yard, you will report directly to the Trainer, Dr Richard Newland, and be responsible for:
• Management of all invoicing, banking & purchases
• All racing administration including liaison with Weatherbys and the British Horseracing authority on behalf of the Trainer
• Development & maintenance of the yard’s website
• Regular liaison with owners arranging stable visits, tickets & race day entertainment
• Supporting the Yard Manager with stable inspections, staff training, employee inductions & health and safety issues
• PAYE for all staff & coordination of stable bonus (‘pool’ money)
• Credit control, VAT submissions & returns
• Coordination of management financial P&L

You will also be expected to provide private secretarial support for Dr & Mrs Newland as required to support them in their non racing activities.

You will be based at our yard near Droitwich. We are seeking an all-round, confident team player with excellent interpersonal, administrative, IT, customer service and organisational skills.
Full training will be provided and a background in racing is not essential.
The role is varied and will support all aspects of the running of the yard.
You will have a high degree of autonomy and confidentiality. Attention to detail and the ability to think proactively on your feet is essential to this role.
What sort of person we are looking for?
• A genuine team player who can build supportive friendly relationships with colleagues and clients
• Confident, with a friendly telephone manner and committed to providing an excellent service for all customers
• Good IT skills including experience with SAGE or similar accounting software
• Accounts experience including completing VAT returns & credit control an advantage
• Attention to detail and the ability to think proactively and multi-task
• Persuasive, positive with a can-do manner. Driven to achieve high standards, hard-working, willing to learn and be flexible to take on new challenges
• With at least 5 GCSE’s at C and above, ideally with A levels, BTEC or a relevant accounts or secretarial qualification. Good excel and word skills.
