Description:

The British Horseracing Authority is the governing and regulatory body for British Horseracing which ensures the continuing integrity and successful development of the sport. It is the BHA's role to act for and on behalf of the whole sport, ensuring that the highest standards apply on and away from the racecourse.

This is an opportunity to join the Racing and Betting Department, whose functions are fundamental to delivering competitive and compelling horse racing. You’ll be responsible for producing race programmes within prescribed timescales and liaising regularly with racecourses, racehorse trainers and other participants. Initially this role will primarily focus on the Flat, however an understanding of both codes is essential as the role develops and supports the wider work of the department.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the rest of the team to deliver the appropriate blend of competitive races to support the attractiveness of British racing to our customers, whilst also creating a race programme that supports the development of horses and allows them to fulfil their potential.

As such, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of race planning and the skills to analyse data as part of evaluating race performance.  You will work with great attention to detail and have strong communication skills, which will be essential for your engagement with racecourses, trainers, owners and other stakeholders within the sport.

You will be required to contribute and support the wider work of the department in all areas relating to the administration of racing and therefore a positive attitude, commitment to the improvement of British Racing and the initiative to drive you own work productively will also be required.

A deep knowledge of, and passion for, horseracing is essential, whilst any experience within a race planning or analysis environment would be desirable.
