The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing and regulatory body for horseracing in Great Britain. It is the BHA’s role to act for and on behalf of the whole sport, with a key objective being to ensure the highest standards apply on and away from the racecourse.
Reporting to the Senior Race Planners, the primary purpose of this role is to produce a race programme that is tailored to the needs of the available horse population and which seeks to enable the development of horses of differing requirements or capability levels to progress to the limit of their ability. To do so will require extensive analysis of race planning data and the ability to create and publish detailed race conditions accurately as well as the skills to successfully negotiate plans with stakeholders.
Further important aspects of the role include being across the latest technology, developing innovations and ideas within the race planning sphere. You’ll be an articulate, clear and effective communicator, able to produce and present papers documenting such ideas to the industry Racing Group and Pattern Committees.
Experience of race planning within the sport would be an advantage, however, we value ability as much as experience and we are looking for an individual with a passion for analytical problem solving, someone who can adapt their communication style to establish and nurture meaningful internal and stakeholder relationships. You’ll be creative with an eye for the detail and able to manage your time well with high levels of prioritisation.
Culturally, we take pride in the way we work and what we achieve. This role will need you to be a motivated team player, who inspires confidence with both your colleagues and our stakeholders. Initiative and proactivity are a must.
The BHA is an inclusive employer which values diversity and we actively encourage and welcome applications from candidates of diverse cultures, perspectives and experiences.
Application: If you feel you have the relevant skills and experience, please apply by completing the application form using this Application Form. Closing date for applications will be 20 October 2020.
