Description:

Great British Racing International and British Champions Series are looking for a Communications & Events Assistant to join their small and dynamic team. GBRI was set up to maintain and grow international investment in one of the world’s leading luxury goods, British Horseracing. As the gateway to this pursuit, GBRI’s purpose is to showcase the values of British horseracing to an international audience and translate interest into economic activity.

British Champions Series, sponsored by QIPCO, incorporates the 35 top Flat races in the British horseracing calendar over 26 racedays, encompassing all British Flat racing’s key festivals. British Champions Series adds on-course activity and broadcast enhancements to these premier racedays. QIPCO British Champions Day, the climax to the Series in October, is Britain’s richest raceday with over £4.35 million in prize money on offer.

Working closely with the Communications & Events Manager, the Communications & Events Assistant will play an essential part in the continuing success of British Champions Series and Great British Racing International, with responsibility for helping to deliver high-profile activity at iconic racecourses throughout the summer and autumn flat racing season, involvement in bloodstock sales and racing events, and contribution to GBRI’s PR output both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities will include overseeing promotional staff on racedays, liaison with racecourse operations teams, event planning and delivery, and working with the sport’s broadcasters to deliver all the key components of British Champions Series and British Champions Day.

Alongside this, the Communications & Events Assistant will contribute to GBRI’s PR output by exploring and securing new PR opportunities and contributing directly to editorial in journals and magazines, all the while forming close working relationships with key investors and participants in the bloodstock industry, including stud farms, consigners, agents, trainers and bloodstock sales companies, to deliver new overseas investment for the British bloodstock and racing industries.

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with a passion for events, project management and communications. Key attributes will include strong communication skills, both written and spoken, a passion for event delivery and an understanding of basic PR processes. You should also be able to demonstrate proven project management and organisation skills. Knowledge of the horse racing and breeding industries would be an advantage.
