A centre of excellence in training staff for the horseracing industry, the British Racing School has been judged Outstanding by OFSTED. We now require an Assistant Instructor to assist with the training and development of trainees as well as assisting with the general care of the horses at the British Racing School.

The successful applicant will be required to live on site and work 06.30 to 12.00 and 15.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday and 1 weekend in 4.

They will be expected to carry out the following general duties:
• Provide assistance to the Instructors during riding and/or stable management lessons
• Assist the Instructors with feeding, bandaging and medication for our 80-horse yard
• Provide direction to trainees on tacking up and yard duties
• Ride horses who are new to school either individually or with the trainees to help assess their suitability
• Clip and trim horses

Essential Skills
Candidates should have experience of riding and caring for racehorses. This position involves working with young people therefore patience and empathy are very important qualities.

Desirable Qualifications
Level 3 Diploma in Racehorse Care and Management.
Level 1 Rider Coaching
Full Clean driving licence

It is essential that the Assistant Instructor lives on site as part of a service occupancy agreement as they will be required to help if a horse is ill/distressed overnight. This position comes with an attractive 3 bedroom bungalow with a large enclosed garden which can be occupied by the individual and members of his/her family or partner. The property is offered rent free and is not subject to benefit in kind taxation under the terms of the agreement. The occupier is responsible for paying bills.
