Description:

The Injured Jockeys Fund helps any rider who holds, or has held, a professional or amateur licence. The Charity has three rehabilitation and Fitness Centres in the UK and are looking for a caring and empathic person to join the team Jack Berry House in Malton. This is an amazing opportunity to join the IJF, the position arising due to a restructure of the charity.

In this role you will provide an independent, confidential and sensitive welfare service, supporting injured jockeys and their families on a case by case basis. This will include working closely with the clinical and Centre teams post physical injury, helping jockeys with mental wellbeing, assisting them to find solutions to personal, financial and practical issues, or using your judgement to signpost them to other support agencies where appropriate.

You’ll be a natural problem solver and be able to relate to people from all backgrounds with warmth and compassion. Working with the wider teams you will provide a vibrant, engaging programme of events for beneficiaries at Jack Berry House. This will require working closely and collaboratively with the Centre Manager and team to deliver a great experience for our beneficiaries. An ability to manage a positive, interactive volunteer group to assist you with this endeavour would be a desired skill. Creative thinking of new and informative ways to engage with a wide demographic of beneficiaries is required.

The working hours are Monday to Friday 09.00 to 17.00 and you will be required to be on call 1 weekend in 10.

Application:  Applications will only be accepted on a IJF application form which can be downloaded here. Please see job specification here for more information.

Applications should be submitted via email to Debbie@ijf.org.uk by 30th October 2020 and interviews will be held on 3rd and 4th November 2020 in Newmarket.
