The British Horseracing Authority is the single governing and regulatory body for British Horseracing which ensures the continuing integrity and successful development of the sport. It is the BHA’s role to act for and on behalf of the whole sport, ensuring the highest standards for the sport and participants, on and away from the racecourse. Our vision is simple: to build a brighter future for our sport, our horses and our people.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a half time (100 days) Judge to be based in the South Midlands/North London, with easy access to the M1/A1 corridor. We require an organised and dedicated racing enthusiast to come and work with us as part of our Judging team.

The core function of this essential role is to decide the official result of a race and broadcasting this result, via the public address system, and relay the results to the wider Racing industry. You will create the official record for the race and distribute it to the racing press and other parties.

Successful applicants will understand the Rules of Racing, have an ability to communicate clearly and have excellent attention to detail. Interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, and an ability to work well under pressure are all necessary traits for the role. Computer competency to relay results/reports in a timely fashion and ability to work in a team environment are required.

The role also encompasses Owners Sponsorship Compliance, liaising with Trainers or their Representatives, and assisting the Raceday Team with various other duties as required.

Given the nature of the role a full valid driving license is required (preferably clean) and a willingness to travel, including some overnight stays. The role also requires work outside the normal working day including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You must also have good colour vision.

If you currently live out of the geographical area for this role, please indicate on your application if you are willing to relocate.

Culturally, we take pride in the way we work and what we achieve. We are committed to advancing the work of equality, diversity and inclusion and we want to attract the best people from the widest talent pool, as well as those who reflect the diverse nature of our society.

Application:  If you feel you have the relevant skills and experience, please apply by completing our application form on the following Application Form.  The closing date for applications will be 05 December 2021
