he ERA is the internationally recognised governing body for horse racing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The ERA administers all aspects of the sport, including the implementation and application of the ERA Rules of Racing through its Stewarding and Veterinary Departments. This also includes the licensing of all trainers, jockeys, officials and stable personnel. The ERA Registry Office manages and processes the registration of horses for racing, and all entries and declarations for all race meetings in the UAE. The ERA also administers the internationally approved Emirates Thoroughbred Stud Book.

The Job Role – Handicapper

The purpose of this role is to provide domestic and international handicapping services and administrative support with respect to race planning and publication of race programmes. Your responsibilities will be, but not limited to;

Analyse field information, verifying horse eligibility and confirming the form of each horse.
Individually assess each horse and Handicap them accordingly, inputting the updated information on the ERA database in a timely manner.
Release weights at the entries and declaration stage for all races within the UAE in accordance with the Rules of Racing and the conditions of the race.
Ensure that the Rules of Racing relating to Handicapping and Handicapping Policies are upheld at all times.
Attend race meetings to liaise with racing personnel.
Assist all race tracks and develop the conditions for all races within the UAE.
Regularly evaluate and make recommendations for process improvement.
Communicate with industry stakeholders
Work in a team environment.


The successful candidate must demonstrate the following attributes;
Knowledge of local and international racing.
High level of customer service, with the ability to clearly communicate to a variety of stakeholders.
The ability to self-manage, through excellent prioritising, planning and organisational skills.
Use technology to improve business operations and customer service.
Proficient in Microsoft Office skills and the ability to adapt to in-house computer systems.
