Main purpose of job:
- To provide underwriting and administrative support to the DAU underwriters
- To carry out underwriting tasks within authority limits, account management and administrative functions to support DAU’s bloodstock and related classes of business.
- To provide class leading service to all clients, brokers and coverholders
Key responsibilities
- Ensuring that underwriting data is processed onto relevant systems in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with DAU operating procedures. Responsibility for the production and issuance of accurate client documentation. Assisting the Credit Risk Team with debt management and cash allocation. Awareness and understanding of claims and claims issues.
- To act at all times within binding authority terms. To act in accordance with the DAU Compliance framework.
- Responsibility for maintaining and developing client relationships, dealing with enquiries in an efficient and professional manner at all times, and providing class leading service to new and existing clients to enhance DAU’s reputation.
- To assist underwriters with the analysis of key accounts using a range of reports and MI to assist with rate analysis, income and profitability forecasting.
- To seek out opportunities for training and development, both personal and for the wider team, to enhance knowledge of the bloodstock and related classes. Keep up to date with market developments to assist with potential business development opportunities, and to develop technical insurance knowledge through study for professional qualifications.
- To be alert to potential new business opportunities and to bring these to the attention of the senior underwriting team for follow up

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications
- Knowledge of bloodstock / thoroughbred industry, including a thorough understanding of trading, regulatory, licensing, wording and tax requirements within key territories of the portfolio
- Understanding of insurance, key processes and terminology sufficient to perform the tasks within the role level
Proficiency with relevant systems and MS Office products
- Progress towards Chartered Insurance Institute qualification. Undertaking all mandatory compliance and other training as required
