Richard Hoiles joins JETS Board of Trustees

TV commentator and presenter Richard Hoiles has recently been appointed a Trustee at JETS (Jockeys Employment & Training Scheme). Richard becomes the newest member of the JETS Board which comprises a group of key individuals within the racing industry who play an important part in representing the interests of jockeys.

Richard has worked in racing as a commentator and presenter since 1992, commentating at all the major Festivals both in the UK and overseas. He has worked on Channel 4 since 2012 and has also been appointed as the lead commentator for ITV from 1st January 2017.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman of the Trustees, Andrew Chalk said, “We are delighted that Richard has joined our small team at JETS. He brings a great depth of knowledge and experience of racing and is passionate about helping JETS extend the reach of its work further.”

Commenting on his appointment, Richard said, “Having first been involved with running a JETS media training course in 1994 I have long been aware of the excellent work they do in providing training for jockeys’ careers after racing.

“In recent years, the emphasis has become increasingly focused on developing life skills during rather than after a career, which can not only provide opportunities post racing but also help maximise the success riders can achieve in the saddle through education in areas such as nutrition, recovery from injury and coping with mental pressures they face.

“Events recently have highlighted the risks riders take on a daily basis and how the role of JETS is crucial in providing as many future options as possible.”
