Sam started riding as an amateur jockey at the age of 18 before riding as a Condidtional jockey for Paul Nicholls and continued to ride until 2003 when weight problems forced him to retire with around 150 winners to his name. He is now a successful jockeys agent booking rides for a number of Jump jockeys.
