JETS ANNOUNCE APPOINTMENT OF NEW GENERAL MANAGER

The Trustees of the Jockeys Education & Training Scheme (JETS) are delighted to announce the appointment of Rachel Jones as their new General Manager. Rachel, from Bargoed in south Wales, will start full time in the position from mid September, taking over from Lisa Delany who will be stepping down from the role after 23 years at the end of September.

A former graduate of the British Horseracing Development Programme, Rachel has worked in the utilities industry at Wales & West Utilities for the past 12 years, most recently in the role of Learning & Development Manager. Prior to that, she worked for ARC racecourses and also in a part time role for Welsh trainer Bernard Llewellyn whilst she was at university.

Rachel said:

“I feel extremely lucky to have found a role in which I can combine my people development experience with my first passion which is horseracing. I am really looking forward to listening to stakeholders, taking on feedback and ensuring JETS continues to offer real value to the jockeys and former jockeys we support. I recognise that I have big shoes to fill and that Lisa is very well respected across the industry but I hope to carry on her good work in taking JETS forward.”

JETS Chair Sheila Bailey said:

“We were hugely impressed by Rachel during the recruitment process and are delighted to welcome her to the small but dedicated team at JETS. Her experience in meeting the education and training needs for over 1900 colleagues, across a vast geographical area and with a variety of different needs are all transferable skills which will stand her in very good stead in her role at JETS. We wish her every success in the role.

“I would once again like to thank Lisa Delany for her huge contribution to the development of the organisation over the past 23 years. We are all going to miss her passion and dedication and the success of JETS is very much down to her sterling work.”
