Jockeys invited to take part in Racing Together Community Day

Racing’s national day of volunteering in support of local communities, the Racing Together Community Day, returns on Thursday 25 May 2023, and we’re calling on jockeys to get involved.

Jockeys play a key role in attracting the next generation into our sport and so, together with the charity Racing to School, we’re looking for jockeys or former jockeys who can go into local schools and spend some time with Year 5 and 6 children, talking about racing and their life as a jockey.

All you need is to be able to speak passionately, be happy to answer questions and be able to give up a couple of hours, either on May 25th or any day that week. You may already have connections with a local primary school or Racing to School can help find a suitable school to visit.

Not only will you be helping the racing industry to reach out into local communities, you will gain skills and experience for your CV, raise your media profile and it will help any sponsorships you have, too. JETS and Racing to School can advise you on what to bring along but the main thing is to have a positive, friendly attitude and a willingness to help others.
